Viorica wine: Moldova’s own white grape
Viorica is a white grape that Moldova counts among its local varieties. Here is what the sources say about it, what our two Viorica wines are like and which awards they have won.
What Viorica is
The National Office for Vine and Wine counts Viorica among Moldova’s local grapes, with Fetească Albă, Fetească Regală, Fetească Neagră and Rară Neagră; local varieties cover about 5% of the country’s vineyards, a share that grows every year. The Office’s director says these indigenous grapes “deliver wines with a strong sense of place”, and the IWSC judges writing in Club Oenologique name Viorica as the white among the grapes Moldova is “rightly proud of”.

We make two dry white wines from Viorica, both from the 2023 vintage and both PGI Codru:
- Goliard Viorica 2023 (289 MDL): orange blossom, white rose, basil, ripe pear and lychee, with a floral, spicy finish; not barrique-aged. Serve at 8–12 °C.
- Artitude Viorica 2023 (189 MDL): from the Artitude brand, whose name joins “art” and “attitude”.
Artitude Viorica also comes in a 3-litre bag-in-box: the dry PGI 2025 took the “Best Bag-in-Box Wine” title at Romania’s National Bag-in-Box Wine Contest in 2026.
